Applications will open for WSJ Leaders on 1st May 2025.
Isle of Wight Scouts have joined up with Hampshire Scouts for all aspects of the 2027 WSJ, and are therefore running a joint application, selection and management process.
The great news is that we have been awarded 4 units of 4 patrols, so we are looking for 16 leaders altogether (4 unit leaders, 4 deputy leaders and 8 assistant leaders).
HQ have made some changes to the process this time round. When applications open on 1st May 2025, Leaders will need to apply using a HQ Smartsheet. We will post the link here

Please Note :
a. Once Applications have been received we will register onto OSM (should be within 24-72hours).
b. We will E-mail you requesting some additional information (including requesting details of a personal scout referee). This E-mail will also include details of how to apply for a County Leader Grant if you need to do so.
c. References will then be collected from the personal scout referee, and from your GLV / DLV / CLV
d. We will then confirm if you are being invited to the selection weekend, or if we are have decided not to take your application forward any further (we are expecting this to be in the first week of June).
Leader Selection Weekend.
This will be held over the weekend 27th - 29th June 25, at Sandy Acres Guide Campsite (near Shedfield, Hampshire). Attendance for the whole weekend is compulsory to be considered for a WSJ Leader role. The weekend will start at 9pm on the Friday (although you may want to arrive earlier to put up a tent), and will finish at 12pm on Sunday (after which you just need to take your tent down).
There will be a charge of £20 to contribute towards the cost of the weekend (paid via Electronic transfer prior to the event).
We will shortly put up more information here (such as an updated Q&A document, and Leader Roles documents), which form important reading.
After the Selection Weekend
After the selection Weekend, the provisional selections will need to be approved by the appropriate CLV's of Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Once this is completed, we will send out offers to the selected leaders, who will need to confirm their acceptance, along with a deposit payment.
We are then planning a meet up day with all of the selected leaders on Sunday 20th July (provisionally in Basingstoke). Therefore, please make sure that you are potentially available for this day as well.
All selected leaders will need to be able to attend the joint Hampshire and Isle of Wight participant selection weekend, which is being held at Ferny Crofts, Beaulieu, Brockenhurst SO42 7YQ over the weekend of 12th - 14th September 25.
